The porridge wasn't much different to his Mum's usual attempts at cooking, though the broccoli-coloured gloop seemed a world away from the Sugar Stoopies he enjoyed while on Mars.
Keen took off his helmet, picked up a spoon and, bracing himself for the worst, ate a spoonful.
It was delicious. No, more than delicious. It was elation in a bowl!
Keen wolfed down the entire bowl, forgetting about his strange not-mother while enjoying the amazing meal.
When he finished and looked up, the fake mother was gone.
